wedding video questions

Chances are, this will be the first and last time you hire a videographer. Here are a few of the wedding video questions that we receive from potential clients most often….

Can I Choose My Own Music?

Yes and no.  Unfortunately, we’re probably not going to be able to use your favorite songs for your wedding film.  Using unlicensed tracks from popular recording artists without their permission is problematic for a few reasons.  1) It’s technically stealing. 2) Social media outlets like YouTube, Facebook and Instagram will more than likely delete your wedding film without notice if it contains music that hasn’t been properly licensed.  And no, even if you claim that you don’t own the copyright to the music in the video’s description, they will still eventually take it down.

That’s why we subscribe to a music licensing service called Artlist.io.  We use their tracks for all of our wedding films.  You are more than welcome to choose from anything in their vast library of music.  Picking out audio tracks can be a bit daunting though.  There’s so much music to choose from.  That’s why we usually wait to pick out music for your video until we begin the editing process.  We like to get a good feel for your wedding, your personalities and the kinds of music that you played throughout your big day.  We then marry the music to your wedding footage to create a film that you’ll love.

Do You Travel and Are There Travel Fees?

You betcha we travel! We don’t charge any travel fees as long as your wedding takes place within 80 miles of our home zip code of 66046. For weddings that happen outside of our home area, we can email you an estimate.

Do you Sell Raw Footage?

Yes we do! For an additional charge, we will take most of the footage we filmed throughout your day and compile it into one long high definition video. Here’s the thing about raw footage that you need to know… it’s RAW. Some of the colors may look murky, the camera might shake in certain shots, and the audio probably won’t sound very good. We do a lot of work in the editing process to make sure you get a highlight video that dazzles, but usually there’s a bunch of footage that we leave out because it doesn’t meet our production standards or doesn’t fit into the story of your wedding film. Also, in order to cut down on the length of the raw footage video, we do a rough edit of your ceremony, switching between several different angles a few times throughout the event. If you’re curious what a raw footage video looks like, here’s an example:

If you are mostly concerned about having a video of your ceremony and/or toasts, we can edit those for you. They will look and sound much better than the raw footage.

What’s the Difference Between Raw Footage and the Feature Documentary?

While the raw footage video may look and sound a little rough, the documentary edit will give you a polished video that shows off your entire wedding day. We edit almost everything we film into a 40 to 60 minute film that features your entire wedding ceremony and toasts from your reception. Here’s an example of what a feature documentary looks like:

Can I Add More Options to My Package After My Wedding?

Absolutely! Many times, our couples will watch their highlight video and then want to purchase their raw footage, edited ceremony or the toasts from their reception. We keep all of the video and audio from your wedding saved on a hard drive for at least one year.

How Do I Book You?

2. If we have your date available, we’ll hold it for you with a $300 non-refundable retainer, which you can pay here.
3. We’ll email you a link to our contract to e-sign. Easy stuff!

Do I Need a Second Videographer?

It all depends on how you have your big day scheduled.  We only really push for a second videographer if you plan to visit multiple locations throughout your wedding day.  For example, if you have the guys getting ready at a friend’s house several miles away from where the bride will put on her dress, it’s a good idea to have a videographer embedded with each party.  Or, if you want to drive everyone over to the World War I monument for pictures just before the ceremony, it would make sense to have one videographer roll with the bridal party while the other sets up the cameras for your nuptials.

For wedding days that take place at one location, one videographer can usually handle everything.  We setup multiple cameras throughout the day, so we have plenty of angles to choose from when we edit together your ceremony and toasts.

How Long Will It Take to Receive My Wedding Film?

It really depends on the time of year. We’re busiest in the fall. That’s when we film most of our weddings. We do our best to have all of your work completed and sent to you within a month, but during the winter and spring, our turn around time is even faster. In our contract though, we GUARANTEE that we will have your film finished within two months at the latest.
