We decided to hold another 5-minute photo session at the Baker Wetlands portraits and that’s where we met Barak and Jackie. This couple hadn’t had their picture taken in awhile, so they decided to meet us out at Lawrence’s most beautiful nature reserve. Their goal was to get some nice photos of the two of them together and also take a couple of head shots that they could use for their professional social media profiles.
If you’ve never been out to The Baker Wetlands (also known as the Haskell-Baker Wetlands), it’s a nature preserve and artificially sustained wetland, spanning approximately 927 acres south of Lawrence, Kansas. It is associated with the Wakarusa River and sustained by levees and flood controls built in the 1990s. If you want wide open spaces with birds, trees, ponds and vast grasslands, this is an excellent place to visit.
As this was our last photo shoot of the day, our 5-minute photo shoot turned into a 30-minute photo shoot because we were having such a good time. Folks would assume that overcast days make for terrible lighting when it comes to photos, but they’re actually terrific for getting even light on faces.
Special thanks to Jackie and Barak for being so fun to work with. Here are our favorite 5 photos that came from this set of Baker Wetlands portraits.
